Bergen Airport Flesland - photo 1 Copyright Bergen Guide.

Your plane will land at the "Bergen Airport, Flesland", situated 12 miles (20 kilometers) south of Bergen. It is only one public terminal. The airport is about 25 minutes away from the center of Bergen, depending on the traffic. Modern, compact, well equipped, and has all conveniences, like duty free shops, souvenir stores. No voice announcing.

Taxis wait outside the airport. They do go faster than the airport bus, but they do cost a lot more. If you are traveling during the morning or evening peak periods you will need to allow extra time for sitting in stationary traffic (bus and taxi).

Airport bus
The best way to get into center of Bergen is by the frequent bus service. To the airport: leaving from Radisson SAS Royal Hotel at Bryggen, via Radisson SAS Hotel Norge and the bus station (platform 17) to the airport and return (the same route). Approx. 25 minutes bus ride at off-peak hours. For departure times, inquire the airlines or at the Tourist Information (roughly: departs three times per hour, less frequently on weekends). The Bergen Card does NOT include transportation from or to the airport.

Taxis
Almost all of the taxi drivers in Bergen speak English. If you are going elsewhere than the center of Bergen, a taxi might be a smart choice. You can ask the driver to tell you about Bergen, places to visit, etc. Most of the taxis are high standard cars, like Mercedes and Volvo.

Other services at the airport
Baggage Lockers. Bank, also ATM. Car rental: Avis, Europcar, Hertz. Custom, tel. (+47) 55 99 81 75. Meeting facilities, tel (+47) 55 99 81 62. Parking, tel. (+47) 55 99 82 10. Police, tel. (+47) 55 99 81 90. Post office. Exchange (automat), to NOK from A, B, CDN, CH, D, DK, E, F, GB, I, J, NL, S, SF and USD.

Tip
If you are at the airport in Bergen and want to eat something, get ready for the high prices. Bergen Airport Flesland is the most expensive airport in Norway. For a half liter of beer you have to pay approx. 10 EURO og 9 USD. For 10 EURO you will get one mineral water and a small piece of apple pie. Source: VG.
