Lofthus

Lofthus shows the Hardanger scenery at its most beautiful, with a marvelous view of the Folgefonna glacier. It is easy to understand why Lofthus was one of Edvard Grieg’s favorite haunts. A stroll among the fruit trees is an experience to be recommended at any time of year.

The old stone church dating from 1250 is also worth a visit (open summer), Lofthus boasts the tradition-rich Hotel Ullensvang and several other pleasant attractions. Lofthus is also a good starting point for trips on the Hardangervidda mountain plateau.
