Welcome to a four-hour round tour of Sunnhordland, on which you can experience the beautiful coastline south of Bergen. Sunnhordland offers a glorious combination of high mountains, narrow sounds, a rugged coastline and hundreds of islands.
The first port of call is Flesland, from where the tour continues to Hufthamar, Austevollshella and Bekkjarvik - all in the large Austevoll group of islands.
The next stop is Fitjar, the scene of some dramatic events in the history of Norway. King Haakon the Good was fatally wounded here in 961 in a bloody battle with the sons of Eric Blood-axe. Today an attractive memorial by the famous sculptor Anne Grim-dalen marks the spot.
From Fitjar it is just a short way to Rubbestadneset on the island of Bomlo. It was at Mosterhamn in the South East of this island that King Olav Tryggvason came ashore in 995, bringing Christianity to Norway. Moster church, which was built between 995 and 1010, is one of the oldest churches in Norway.
The next call is at Leirvik, whose excellent harbor has made it an important junction ever since the Middle Ages.
After a short stop the boat returns to Bergen, taking the inner route along the island of Stord.
