Night Jazz (Nattjazz)
Night jazz (Nattjazz) is the longest jazz festival in Northern Europe and is arranged during late May, early June in Bergen.
Concerts are presented throughout the festival period, both at the festival area and at other venues in the city. The festival area is an old sardines factory which is now used for concerts, exhibitions, theatre and cinema. This old factory is named Kulturhuset USF (USF – United Sardines Factory).
The borderline experienceThe music profile of Night Jazz spans a wide range of styles. Traditional jazz is presented along with world music. During Night Jazz the borderline between jazz, rock and folk music is explored. Using the style names usually adapted to describe jazz; Bebop, Hard Bop, Jazz Rock, Fusion and Funk are presented at the venues of Night Jazz.
