Nygaardsparken Recreation Park – Alert!

The Nyggardsparken Recreation Park is a lovely park next to the center in Bergen. The park was built in 1880 opened in 1885 for the public, then known as Nygaards Park Society (Nygaards Parkselskap). Approx. 75 acres of land. Designed in English landscape style.
ALERT
Unfortunately, the upper part of the park is home to dozens of drug addicts in Bergen. This makes a large part of the park into a risky place for other people. The risk can be needles, robbery, threats and other unpleasant situations. We encourage everyone, both residents and tourists, to stay away from the upper part of the Nygaardsparken area. Stay here at your own risk.
We will stress that this is one of the very few risky places in Bergen. We in the Bergen Guide team have walked through a group of the people here and nothing special happened except getting an offer of buying drugs. But as said; stay here at your own risk.
