Driving in Bergen

Are you going to rent a car or bring your own car to Bergen?

It is not easy to drive in the center of Bergen, that’s for sure. The main problem is to find your driving route because of all the one way streets in the center of Bergen. The main idea is that the traffic is lead into a circle. This is why you should plan your route carefully before you start. If you miss your exit road, you have to go for another circle drive. Our main tips is to plan ahead and drive slowly but not slow of course, that’s quite annoying for the rest of us.

The center of Bergen covers a smaller area, limited by the surrounding mountains. Because of this, it might be a good idea to park your car at “Bystasjonen” and walk from here. Most of the facilities are within walking distance from here.

Driving during the winter season
Please also note the tire requirement, this is very important! We can’t stress this enough. Every winter we see cars and trucks at the road shoulder because of summer tires.
