Norway Bergen - Fantoft Stave Church
Norway Bergen - Fantoft Stave Church

The old Fantoft stave church was originally built in Fortun in Sogn in 1150 and moved to Fantoft in 1883, burnt down on the 6th of June 1992. The Fantoft Stave Church has now been rebuilt just as is was before the fire.

Fantoft Stave Church is situated at Fantoft, just outside the center of Bergen. If you are going on your own you have to pay attention for the road sign as it may not be so easy to locate the stave church. Very limited parking possibilities, if any.

Getting to the Fantoft Stave Church

You can go by bus from the center of Bergen, ask at the bus station or at the tourist information office for timetables and number of bus lines suiting your visit.

You can also go by the Bergen Light Rail. We recommend that you get off the light rail at the station called Fantoft (900 meters / 10 minute walk according to google maps), if you stay on for one more stop it can be a quite steep uphill-walk to the church (850 meters / 9 minute walk according to google maps).

Facilities at the church
No restaurant, kiosk or gift shop. No toilet. No parking.
