Hiking at Mount Ulriken in Bergen

Mount Ulriken is the highest mountain surrounding Bergen. The foot of the mountain is located close to the center of Bergen and quite easy accessible, either by car, bus or by foot.

You may go up the mountain by foot or the cable car. We went up by foot.

The hike is quite steep but the trails are quite good. A map is recommended. We used hiking shoes and sports clothing, you’ll get warm after a few minutes, we promise you.

At the top of Mount Ulriken you find a restaurant and a small kiosk. In the Ulriken kiosk you find souvenir items related to Mount Ulriken, such as T-shirts and drinking bottles. You may also buy ice cream in the kiosk. The Ulriken restaurant serves finer food and I think this restaurant is intended for people going by the cable car, sweaty hikers like us. Next time we bring some friends and visit the restaurant. The view from Ulriken and the restaurant is magnificent at clear days.
